1. Development of Android
Android operating system was developed by the company Android inc. in Palo Alto, California, which was established in 2003.The founders of android were Andy Rubin, Chris white, Nick sears, and Rich miner.Later it was owned by google on August 17, 2005 due to lack of money for Android inc. for further development of an Android operating system.
2. Android is open source
Google along with many others is a member of Open Handset Alliance(OHA), which tries to develop open standards for mobile devices, which means users can see and can also modify the Android code which is almost having 12 million lines and develop newer versions.The users are also allowed to share the new modifications to other users.
3. Android is absolutely free
As Android is open source, Google gives this Android operating system to mobile companies at free of cost.
4. Android is based on Linux
Android is based on Linux Kernel, which later was stressed by Google beyond the limits to achieve high performance.
5. Android Logo
Google Android Logo was designed from Atari game called Gauntlet.
6. Alphabetical order Android versions
Google releases all its Android versions in Alphabetical order.The versions which were released by Google will resemble the desserts.The Android versions released until now are:
