IIT Delhi – MSc Cognitive Science
IIT Delhi offers MSc Cognitive Science which is of 2 years. The first two semesters include core courses while the other two-semesters include elective courses. The course requires 75 credits to complete which spreads over two years. The MSc Cognitive Science (IIT Delhi) Syllabus consists of core courses that train students in the broad areas of cognition.
The electives will introduce students to advanced topics and developments in certain areas of Cognitive Science. Besides core and elective courses, the lab-intensive curriculum is there to provide practical sessions. As a part of elective credits, three advanced research methods courses are there. Besides all the courses, an additional external project is there which would enable students to engage with a practical project.
IIT Delhi – MSc Cognitive Science: Core Courses & Electives
The first two-semesters of the IIT Delhi’s Cognitive Science course deal with basic concepts, methods, theories, and tools used in the scientific study of cognition. The introductory course includes Linguistics, Mathematics, Psychology, Neuroscience, Philosophy, Data Analysis, and Computation. In the first semester, a bridge course on foundational subjects like Biology, Mathematics, etc will also be present.
Program Electives:
A total of nine credits will be there in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th semesters. Three credits for each semester. Students can choose any of the specific disciplines of MSc Cognitive Science according to their choice and interest. Open Electives:
Through open elective courses, students are required to complete six credits. Courses like Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Neuro/ Biosciences, Management, etc will provide more cross-disciplinary perspectives on Cognitive Science.
Projects and Lectures:
External Project: In between the 2nd and 3rd semesters, each student at IIT D has to undertake an external project of 2 credit points. Students will get an opportunity to engage in basic or applied research outside the course curriculum.
MSc Project: The credits for the project are divided into two parts across the 3rd and 4th semesters. Students at IIT Delhi will be able to conduct preliminary studies in the 3rd semester. They will also have to write a report on their project in the 4th semester,
Lectures: For building a broad understanding of the theories and applications of Cognitive Science, 2 credits are allocated by experts from academia and industry in the 3rd and 4th semesters.

IIT Delhi – MSc Cognitive Science Eligibility:
The minimum eligibility for getting admission to MSc Cognitive Science in IIT Delhi is to obtain a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with a minimum of 55% of marks or 5.5 CGPA or CPI out of 10 from a recognized university. However, there is a 5% or 0.5 CGPA relaxation of marks for the candidates belonging to SC / ST / PwD categories.
IIT Delhi – MSc Cognitive Science Admission
Admission to the MSc Cognitive Science in IIT Delhi is based on the scores obtained in the Cognitive Science Joint Entrance Test (COGJET). Candidates who have a valid score in GATE / CSIR / JAM / NET / JRF would be waived from COGJET.
In addition to this, candidates who obtained a minimum of 8.0 CGPA from Centrally Funded Technological Institute and those who have an MBBS degree from a recognized university or institute are exempted from GATE / CSIR / JAM / NET / JRF entrance test.
